The problem is that it starts up fine, but won't restart if I park it after running it for awhile. For example, it will start readily at the beginning of the day. Then I drive it to run errands around town, driving approximately one hour in stop and go traffic, and turn off the engine while I go into a store to do my shopping. Then if I try to restart the car, it would not start. All I can hear is the noise from the ECU, right passenger foot area, one click with each turn of the key. I have replaced the starter, checked my wires going to the starter for corrosion and I have a pretty new battery. The starter wouldn't even make the usual clicking noise you would hear when it's going out. If I would wait for an hour or two and try restarting, it would start fine. I've heard that it could be a ground problem? Please help me. I totally appreciate any thought on this matter. Answer: Troubleshooting the No Start, No Crank Problem If I'm reading you correctly when you turn the key and nothing happens as far as the starter goes. No noise and no crank. If that's the case it should be fairly simple to troubleshoot. 1. Is It the Starter? The best way is to start at the starter. With the key in the START position, you should have power at the black/white wire of the starter. If you do, then the starter itself is bad. If you have no power we need to work out way back. 2. If There Is No Power to the Starter Under the dash mounted on the clutch pedal is the Clutch Switch. With the key in the START position, you should have power at the black/red wire of the Clutch Switch. If you do, close the Clutch Switch and see if you have power at the white/black wire. If you do then you have a bad ground or a bad Starter Relay. Run a separate ground from the white/black wire to ground and if it starts, you have a bad ground wire. If not, we will need to check the Starter Relay. With the key in the start position, you should have power at the two black wires, the black/white wire and the black red wire. If you have power at the two black wires and not at the black/white wire and the black red wire, you have a bad starter relay. If you don't have power at the two black wires, you probably have a bad ignition switch or a bad fusible link. Bottom Line on No Crank After Running If there is power to the starter, then the likely problem is the starter itself is bad. If there is no power to the starter, it could be a bad ground, a bad starter relay, a bad ignition switch, or a bad fusible link.
