What to Bring on Your Next Beach Trip

Want to make the most of your next beach day or getaway? Then be sure to bring these essentials.

A Wrap

Consider one large, lightweight wrap-style scarf that can be used a variety of ways.  First, it can act as a wrap for chilly flights, can be worn as a pareo at the beach, and as a shawl for evenings out when there is a chill in the air.  Choose a style that works for all of these needs and with the colors of the wardrobe you are packing.

It's smart to choose a style that won't get crushed in your suitcase.  You will be hanging around in the sun, so try to choose a style that also has SPF50 protection.

A Versatile Tote

Believe it or not, there is a way to pack one tote while on vacation.  It can work as a carry on for your flight and then be used at the beach. Just choose a roomy, summery style that will be easy to coordinate with what you wear.  A metallic or straw style are great choices.

There are times on vacation where you won't necessarily want to carry a large tote bag. Having a small clutch or wristlet is your solution. You can carry it for nights out and also carry it inside your larger tote to keep small objects, like your cell phone, money and credit cards in one place.

Lots of Inexpensive Jewelry

Vacation is not the time to travel with expensive jewelry.  Even if you have a private safe in your hotel room, it's important to be cautious. Instead, pack some of your favorite costume jewelry.  Not only is it safer but accessories can change up your looks which means you will get to pack fewer clothes.

Beach Sandals

Next, thongs or flip flops for the beach.  These aren't necessarily shoes you'll wear beyond the beach or pool, or past the breakfast buffet, but you won't have to worry about damaging a good pair of sandals either.

Casual Sandals for Walking

If your trip involves a lot of sightseeing, be sure to have a pair of good walking shoes or sandals with good support.  One of the most favored styles is the Birkenstock Gizeh.  You get comfort without sacrificing style.

Another pair of shoes to consider packing are a pair of dressier sandals that aren't necessarily for walking but aren't heeled.  A pair of flat metallic sandals are a great choice because they work with everything.

Heeled Sandals or Wedges

Rounding out the shoe list, if you have plans for a night out, pack a pair of heeled sandals or wedges.  They'll be a helpful style to have when you want to take a daytime sundress from day to evening.

Lastly, don't forget your sunglasses. Not only will they keep your peepers protected from the damaging rays of the sun, but they'll make you look good doing it.
