Learn about our Editorial Process Updated on 05/24/19 Since the tournament's debut in 1895, the U.S. Open has visited a lot of golf courses around the United States. And here we list every one of them, along with their locations. Key Takeaways The USGA selects a different golf course each year as the site of its flagship tournament, the U.S. Open. While there is no British Open-style set rotation of courses, there are golf courses to which the U.S. Open periodically returns. The USGA names future U.S. Open golf courses sometimes more than 10 years in advance. Is There a U.S. Open Rota? The British Open rota is a well-established rotation of golf courses, the identities of which are well-known, and it follows some set rules. Does the USGA has a similar rotation? No. But the USGA definitely has favorite golf courses it likes to visit for the U.S. Open. You'll be able to easily pick them out in the list below. But unlike with the R&A and the Open Championship, there are no set rules, no established formula used by the USGA. Plus the USGA is willing to visit courses never used before.
