Tom Lochhaas is a former writer for ThoughtCo, who contributed articles about sailing during a five-year period. He has sailed in boats ranging from a 14-foot Sunfish to a 50-foot ocean cruiser on his home waters, from Long Island to Nova Scotia, plus both coasts and the Gulf of Mexico. He has made several voyages to the Caribbean and Bermuda. He has raced boats in yacht club round-the-buoys races and ocean races, and he has outfitted and maintains a 38-foot sloop.
