TaylorMade Golf TaylorMade Golf has released women's golf clubs before, but usually they have been "ladies models": standard TaylorMade clubs repurposed to appeal to women golfers. A "ladies model" of Burner woods, for example: higher-lofted woods, softer shafts and other approaches designed to help golfers with slower swing speeds. That, plus different graphics and colors. But the TaylorMade Kalea golf clubs are the company's first-ever complete line of clubs designed for women golfers, and its first clubs designed exclusively for women in more than 10 years. The Kalea clubs can be purchased as a complete set including woods, rescue clubs, irons and wedges; or the pieces, including a putter and golf bag, can be purchased separately. They also come in several set configurations at different price points, as we'll see on the following pages. 02 of 03 Giving Slower Swing Speeds a Boost The TaylorMade Kalea clubs feature color accents typical of what manufacturers believe appeals to women golfers. TaylorMade Golf As with most golf clubs designed for women, the Kalea clubs incorporate technology that helps golfers with slower swing speeds achieve higher launch angles and higher ball flights, and consistent yardage gaps between clubs. In Kalea, this includes the Kalea SlimTech shafts with smaller tip diameters that give launch angle a boost. Lofts are optimized for slower clubhead speeds, and the slot technology in the soles help increase the "hotness" of the face to help with ball speed and minimize the effects of off-center strikes. 03 of 03 Kalea Pieces, Configurations and Prices The TaylorMade Kalea putter.
