For other teams, winning it all is the first of one or maybe a couple championships, and then you don't hear from them again, or at least for a long time. And for still others, it's a flash in the pan: one and done. Super Bowl XLIX - The New England Patriots advanced to the AFC championship after winning the AFC East with a 12-4 record. They lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos. Super Bowl L - The Denver Broncos went 9-7 and failed to make the playoffs. Super Bowl LI - The New England Patriots won the AFC East with a 13-3 record. They advanced all the way to the Super Bowl, where they were defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles. Super Bowl LII - The Philadelphia Eagles finished second in the NFC East with a 9-7 record and squeaked into the playoffs with a wild card berth. They lost in the Divisional round to the New Orleans Saints. Super Bowl LIII - The New England Patriots finished with a 12-4 record and won the AFC East. They were knocked out in the first round of the playoffs, losing to the Tennessee Titans.
