Cheating in real life is never a good thing, but cheating in life simulation games is expected and encouraged. The Sims: Bustin' Out has cheat codes that reward players with free money and other perks to make virtual life more enjoyable.

These cheats are exclusively for the PlayStation 2 version of The Sims: Bustin' Out.

How to Unlock The Sims: Bustin' Out Cheat Gnome

Before you enter any other cheat codes, activate the Cheat Gnome. Pause the game, and press the following buttons in succession: R2, L1, R1, L2, Left, Circle.

Input the entire code quickly. If successful, the Cheat Gnome appears outside your house. You can now enter the cheat codes listed below and talk to the Gnome to claim your reward. The Gnome will go away periodically, but he always returns. There's no need to reenter the code.

The Sims: Bustin' Out Cheat Codes

Pause the game at any time while playing and input the following cheat codes with the PS2 controller.

You must activate the Gnome cheat before you can use the Fill All Motives and Get $10,000 cheats.

How to Skip Work

If you need a day off work, spend the night at Mom's house. Your bus will not arrive in the morning. Don't skip work two or three days in a row or else you'll risk getting fired.

How to Avoid Getting Fired

If you miss the bus while you're in danger of being fired, find another job before you get a call from your boss. You can then switch back to your previous job without penalty.

Improve a Sim's Mood

To lift a sad Sim's spirits, create a new room connected to your house with the following amenities:

  • Windows
  • Microwave
  • Counter
  • Fridge
  • Large sofa
  • TV
  • Lights
  • Toilet
  • Table
  • Chairs

Get the Sim to go into the room, then remove the door. Have the Sim test everything out, and go do something else while you wait for their happiness to increase. Don't forget to let them out later.

Increased Fun and Energy Recovery

Purchase two Aromasters and place them on separate tables on opposite sides of your bed. Activate the Juniper scent on one and the Lavender setting on the other, then go to sleep. You'll wake up with full energy and fun meters.
