The Sims series celebrates the banalities of everyday existence. However, unlike real life, The Sims 2 has cheat codes that give you free money, free clothes, and free food. There's even a way to avoid paying bills altogether.

These cheats are exclusively for the Nintendo GameCube version of The Sims 2. There are separate cheats for The Sims 2 on PC as well as The Sims 2 on PlayStation 2 and The Sims 2 on PSP versions.

How to Enter Cheats for The Sims 2

Before you can use most other cheats, you must activate the Cheat Gnome by pressing L, R, Up, A, Z during gameplay. After activating additional cheats, you can take advantage of them by talking to the Cheat Gnome.

Input these codes at any time during gameplay with the GameCube controller.

Food Bonuses

Combine the following ingredients for various bonuses.

Aphrodisiac boost Carrots, Lime, Pork, and Passion Fruit
Energy boost Dangleberry, Yogurt, Strawberries, and Cherries

Adding llama to any meal will make your Sims sick, so avoid using it as an ingredient.

How to Avoid Getting Fired

If you're in danger of getting fired and you miss your ride to work, switch to another job, then change back to your original job to avoid being reprimanded.

How to Force Friendships

Invite people to get in your hot tub, then place objects around it so that they can't leave. They'll eventually become your friends.

The best way to keep friends is by throwing daily parties.

How to Live Alone in The Sims 2

Make everyone in your household get a job. Right before they are about to come home, use the cheat that advances time to throw off their schedules. You can exploit this trick to avoid running into your roommates indefinitely.

How to Avoid Paying Bills

If you have bills that you don't want to pay:

  1. Build a 4x4 room with a fireplace, a trash bin, and a door.

  2. Gather all of your bills, then go into the room.

  3. Wait until you catch fire and burn to death along with your bills.

  4. Return to life by paying the Grim Reaper or challenging him to a fiddle contest. You won't have to pay the burnt bills.

How to Make a Love Potion

There's a special potion you can concoct to make your Sims always accept Love Socials:

  1. Purchase an aquarium, a Garden Hutch food tree, a blender, a food processor, an oven, and a refrigerator.

  2. Harvest the food after two or three days.

  3. Take the following ingredients from the refrigerator:

    • Avocado
    • Starfruit
    • Persimmon
    • Chupa-Chupa

  4. Put everything in the food processor and select Prep.

  5. Cook the dish in the oven.

  6. Put the dish in the blender and select Make Smoothie.

  7. Give the smoothie to the Sim you want to fall in love.
