The Shelby GT/SC Post-Title Package, for 5th generation Ford Mustangs, not be be confused with the iconic GT/CS "California Special" Mustang, was a toned down version of the GT/SR option, and was originally designed for Shelby GT and Shelby GT-H Mustangs. As with the somewhat similar GT/SR Package, the upgrade came with a Supercharger. It also featured Baer Drilled and Slotted rotors, Autometer Shelby Signature Series Gauges, along with special striping and other goodies.

Performance Upgrades

In all, the Shelby GT/SC package featured numerous performance upgrades including a supercharged engine capable of producing up to 550 horsepower as well as all the various performance upgrades mentioned earlier (performance brakes, gauges, and special striping). It also featured a lower ride than the standard GT of the day. At the time, Shelby's Gary Patterson said of the car, "[It can run] 12.70s on a crappy day."

The Mustang was available with optional 20x9-inch Shelby Razor wheels, in addition to a five-speed manual option with a Hurst Short-throw Shifter.

An automatic version of the car was also made available, featuring upgraded rear gears. The company also made the GT/SC package available for convertibles (see video).

The GT/SC package changed as different model year Mustangs became available. For instance, the upgraded 2014 Shelby GT/SC package featured even more options for buyers, including Shelby Ford Racing Whipple Supercharger kit with either 525 hp or 624 hp configurations.

The Conversion Process

In order to convert to the GT/SC package, a buyer first needed to purchase a Shelby GT or GT-H (in later years a Standard GT) Mustang from their local dealer. The post-title car was then sent to Shelby's Mod Shop in Las Vegas, Nevada where it received a complete transformation, featuring all the goodies discussed here.

The package was originally priced between $10,899 and $12,999, with the 2014 upgrade going for around $27,995. According to reports, less than 200 of the cars were ever produced. Unfortunately there is no current registry.
