Latin music is known for its sensual rhythms, deeply emotional lyrics and flamboyant flair in performances, but no one does Latin performance quite like these 10 popular female artists of the genre.

From Belinda's smooth vocals to Jennifer Lopez and Shakira's international success as Latin pop stars, the following women have shaped the modern landscape of the music scene, back home in South, and Central America as well as abroad.

The sweet looks of Belinda have transformed this Mexican singer and actress into one of today's hottest female Latin music stars.

Born in Mexico in 1989, Belinda started her career in 1999 at just 10 years old as the star of the children's telenovela "Amigos X Siempre!" before moving on from acting at the age of 13 with the release of her self-titled debut album.

As of early 2017, Belinda just wrapped production on a remake movie of "Baywatch" co-starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Zac Efron.

Mexican singer Anahi, a former member of the Latin Pop group RBD, has been regarded as one of the sexiest Latin music stars of today because of her supermodel body and sensual lyricism, though is unfortunately off the market as she's married to the Mexican Governor of Chiapas and currently serving as their First Lady. 

As a solo artist, Anahi has released tracks in English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese on six albums throughout her career, garnering more than 20 million record sales worldwide.

However, Anahi is most commonly known for her work in such films as 1995's "Alondra," 2004's "Rebelde" and 2011's "Dos Hogares."

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer "JLo" Lopez was born in the Bronx, New York around the beginning of an emergence of Latin music in the city's dancehall culture, but JLo got her start on the big screen instead of as a singer. 

Her breakout performance in "Selena" as the title character earned her a Golden Globe nomination in 1997, and in 1998 she became the first female Latina actress to earn over $1,000,000 on a film for her role in "Out of Sight."

In 1999, JLo broke into the music scene with "On the 6," followed two years later with the dual-release of both her second studio album "J.Lo" and her blockbuster smash "The Wedding Singer," earning her more accolades as the first female to have both a number one album and number one film in the same week.

Natalia Jimenez

One of the few Spaniards on the list — or even in Latin music — Natalia Jimenez's natural Spanish beauty both in vocals and appearance has captured the attention of many fans of Latin pop and rock.

As the lead singer of La 5ª Estación, Natalia Jimenez gained notoriety in the genre by releasing four albums from 2000 to 2010 before taking a break to work on solo projects. The band eventually reunited as La Quinta Estacion which released four new albums since.

Jimenez has also worked with the likes of Ricky Martin and Ednita Nazario, earning her a spot amongst the greatest of international Latin pop icons. Recently, she's been featured as a coach on the hit Telemundo show "La Voz Kids."

Cuban-American singer Nayer has gained lots of exposure thanks to her work alongside Pitbull, especially on the Afrojack-produced track "Give Me Everything."

However, Nayer had a career all her own before then, appearing in a number of commercials, soaps and other TV programs and charity events throughout her early adolescence. She even took place in "Star Search" and has been featured in several shows.

In 2009 that all changed when she met Pitbull, who began featuring him on her tracks before eventually leading her through the process of creating her own album.

Paula Fernandes

Brazilian singer Paula Fernandes is one of today's most popular female stars from her country and has recently taken part in the recording of the "JUANES MTV Unplugged" album. Additionally, Paula Fernandes was named as VIP Magazine's "16th Sexiest Woman in the World" in 2011.

At ten years old, Paula Fernandes released her first self-titled solo album and she released her second before she went to college to study Geography.

Fernandes has gone on to produce five other studio albums garnering a total of over 2 million record sales worldwide as well as several Latin Grammy Awards for pop music.

Latin Pop diva Paulina Rubio has been always considered one of the most attractive female singers in Latin music, but she's also been one of its most active and representative performers.

Rubio is considered an actress, singer, "The Voice Mexico" judge, celebrity concierge, model and a highly successful entrepreneur. Along with being a founding member of the pop group Timbiriche from 1981 to 1991, Rubio has also released a number of solo albums since the band broke up.

From the very beginning, the Colombian superstar has enhanced her looks with her sensual belly dancing and seductive English/Spanish lyricism — look no further than the lyric from the smash hit "Whenever, Wherever" that says "lucky that my breasts are small and humble / so you don't confuse them with mountains" to find her exotic sex appeal.

For several years, this beautiful Mexican singer and actress has been listed as one of the most beautiful Latin people in the world and frequently considered the "Queen of Latin Pop" due to her three-decade-spanning career in the scene.

As an actress, Thalia has appeared on popular telenovelas that have aired in over 180 countries worldwide, propelling her to a household name in many countries.

In 2013, she was also granted a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as a reward for earning over 16 number one singles over the course of her career.

Another of the most attractive and coolest rising stars from Brazil, Ceu has recently moved her music to new levels with her wonderful 2012 album "Caravana Sereia Bloom," though this eclectic Latin indie artist draws inspiration from a variety of Latin music forms.

With influences from Billie Holliday to Ella Fitzgerald in the styles of everything from salsa and samba to choro, soul and hip-hop. 

Over the course of her career, Ceu has earned a number of Latin Grammy Awards, sold millions of records, and even several Brazilian MTV Awards.
