Training Camp and Organization Justino trains out of the world famous Chute Boxe Academy in Brazil. She currently fights for the Invicta Fighting Championships. Nickname When Justino fought Gina Carano, she was known as Cris "Cyborg" Santos. At the time she was married to MMA fighter Evangelista Santos, thereby taking his last name and nickname. However, the couple split in December of 2011, and she returned to her maiden name of Justino. That said, she kept the nickname. Toughest Fights According to Cristiane Justino One would think that Justino's first fight, a submission loss to Erica Paes (leglock), was her toughest encounter. Rather, Justino (then Santos) told Tatame that her toughest fights were against Vanessa Porto at Storm Samurai 9 in 2005 (decision victory) and Yoko Takahashi at EliteXC in 2008 (decision victory). It's likely no coincidence that those are the only two fights on her record that have gone the distance. Fighting Style Justino fights like most Chute Boxe competitors- she doesn't mess around. Her diverse Muay Thai skills and solid submissions allow her to go for broke from the beginning of the fight to the end. Along with this, she is also very strong and has outstanding cardio. Said another way, Justino likes to stand and knock her competitors out. Her fighting style could be characterized as both vicious and diverse. The Story of the Cyborgs MMA fighters Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos and Cristiane got together in 2005, when Cris first fought in Sao Paulo. After three months they began living together and then decided to get married. The two split in December of 2011. Some of Cristiane Justino's Greatest MMA Victories Justino defeats Marloes Coenen by TKO at Invicta FC 6: Coenen vs. Cyborg: Coenen is known as one of the better female grapplers in the world. That said, she proved to be unable to deal with Justino's striking and sheer power, en-route to a clear loss. With her victory, Justino took home the Invicta FC Featherweight Championship. It was the second time that Justino had defeated Coenen. Justino defeats Gina Carano by TKO at Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg: Though this matchup took place back in 2009, the reality is that it still stands as the flagship of female MMA. In other words, until such time as Ronda Rousey potentially engages in her rematch against Holly Holm, this will be the fight above all others that most fans remember. Carano was as popular as they come back when this Strikeforce bout took place, and although the then champ was game, the reality is that Cyborg proved to be far too powerful for her. This was the bout that cemented Cyborg's reputation as one of the best female fighters in the game. Justino defeats Shayna Baszler by TKO at EliteXC: Unfinished Business: Baszler was an MMA veteran who had impressed many with her toughness and grappling capabilities. Unfortunately for her, in Justino she ended up taking on one of the greats of all time before anyone knew it yet. As has been the case in nearly every situation where she has entered a cage/ring, Justino ended up knocking Baszler out. With the clear and decisive victory, Justino, known to most as Cyborg, announced herself on the scene of high level women's mixed martial arts.
