Products for Men with a Bald or Shaved Head

You want a shampoo for a shaved head? You got it!

The men's grooming market is white hot these days. Blame it on Bruce Will or Matt Lauder, who both pull off looking sexy and young without a head of hair. It's no surprise that it seems that every time you turn around there's a new shampoo, shaving cream, or styling product being introduced to the male shaved head or bald market.

Whether someone is bald by choice or they inherited male pattern baldness, there are now a plethora of grooming products on the market to help you keep that chrome dome looking slick and well-groomed.

Of course, the first step in maintaining a great looking melon is to use a proper shaving technique. But once you get past the initial first step, the right products can really take your look to the next level.

Here are a few of my favorites:

HeadBlade
The company started with the HeadBlade Razor in the late nineties and has since introduced a full suite of products just for head shavers. The company has created a diverse line of products to fill every need a bald guy could possibly think of. From every kind of blade to head creams to LOVE HEAD beanies, you can purchase products on their website and then learn how to shave and care for your bald head by viewing their educational videos.

Matte for Men
The company offers two products, Antioxidant Shave Gel, and Complete Head Care Lotion. The Antioxidant Shave Gel is a departure from the normal shaving creams in that it's a gel with no lathering agents.

The product provides very good lubrication and is ideal for detailed shaving around facial hair. I have found that The Complete Head Care Lotion absorbs well, has a nice matte finish, and offers an SPF of 25, which should do the trick for most people. The lotion is a good all-around product to moisturize and protect the face and head.

Bee Bald
This Bee Bald Smooth feels really good on the skin. Although it's a bit heavy, it is not greasy and has very nice moisturizing properties. I love that it has an SPF factor of 30 for those that are sun-sensitive, freckle easily, or want to avoid the damaging effects of the sun. I wish it were in a tube, which is easier to hold (rather than a jar), but that's the only fault I could find with this otherwise great product.

I also like the company's Bee Bald Head and Face Wash. It does a fine job of cleansing the scalp and has a very pleasant fresh smell, which is always a bonus.

After You Shave and Moisturize, Learn to Protect

The scalp is even more susceptible to damage from the sun than other parts of the body. You may not be aware of it, but even when it's cloudy outside, the sun's damaging UV rays come through. In addition to a moisturizer embued with an SPF (or a separate sunshine you prefer), I suggest purchasing a great hat and putting it to good use when the rays are strong.  Especially if you can find a trendy fedora (which is all the rage right now) you'll look hip, cool and be guarding against skin cancer in one fell swoop.
