For this classic Ivy League, the hair is cut aggressively short on the sides and back (using a #1 blade) and finger length on top. For off-duty versatility, a bit of pomade can be applied and the top styled with a bit of texture.

Crewcut

If you want to go for this crewcut, make sure your hair is cut with a #1 blade on the sides and back. Use a #2 blade on the top, and be sure to leave just a bit more length in the front.

Ivy League

For this Ivy League haircut, the hair is cut aggressively close on the sides and back. The top is cut clipper short (using a #4 blade at the crown) and gradually gets longer toward the front of the head.

Medium Regulation

This cut is a medium regulation cut. In civilian terms, it is referred to as a medium fade. The hair is cut to the skin on the sides and back about one-third of the way up the head and gradually fades into the longer length on top.

This is a very popular haircut among United States Marines, Army Rangers, and athletes. The hair is cut high and tight on the sides and back (and zero length up to the crown).

In this butch haircut, the hair is clipped to the skin on the sides and back and then gradually tapers into a #2 blade cut on the top. It's easy to see that this is the ultimate low-maintenance style.

This short Caesar is clipped aggressively short on the sides and back (using a #1 blade). The top is left about one inch long and can be worn forward as shown. For a little variety, some men like to use gel to spike the top upward.

Brush Cut

For the brush cut, the hair is clipper cut short, high up the sides and back. The top is blow-dried up and the top is cut into a flat top, except the sides are rounded a bit more. This is a good option if you have straight hair and a slightly receding hairline.

Buzzcut With Texture

This is a unique take on the traditional buzzcut. For this style, the hair is cut aggressively short in the back and on the sides (using a #1 blade), while the top is left a bit longer in the center. The result is that when worn dry, the top has just a bit more texture. However, you can add gel or styling paste for more texture or, you can style it into a faux-hawk look.
