Wholesome and Educational Shows They Will Love

A great way of instilling the love of music in children is by letting them watch educational TV shows for kids that foster music education. Since most homes are never without a television set or a computer, why not make these shows to your child's advantage? Here are several suggested TV programs to check out.


The BabyFirstTV channel provides wholesome and educational shows for babies, toddlers and parents. Their program called "Rainbow Dreams" specifically features songs for nap time, such as lullabies and other soothing music, accompanied by colorful images.

Blue's Clues

Blue's Clues, hosted by Donovan Patton, is a classic children's show that is loved by kids in preschool and elementary school. The older episodes were hosted by the infamous "Steve" and newer episodes are hosted by the character Joe. The real star of the show is Blue, the adorable and playful puppy who loves leaving clues. Children have fun watching this interactive cartoon as they try to uncover Blue's clues with songs and adventures.

Dora the Explorer

This popular show for preschoolers is on Nick Jr. With Dora the Explorer, children can follow the adventures of Dora and her friendly companion Boots as The Map guides them along the way. Kids can learn both Spanish and English through songs and wonderful adventures. Dora's cousin Diego, who sometimes appears on this show, also has his own show called "Go, Diego, Go."

Jack's Big Music Show

Jack's Big Music Show airs on the channel Noggin and is one of the few shows that focuses mainly on music. In each episode, kids are introduced to songs in various genres, as well as different types of musical instruments. They also have featured guest artists to keep children entertained.

Johnny and the Sprites 

John Tartaglia, a Tony Award-nominated performer, stars in this show on Playhouse Disney with his four Sprite friends. What makes this show unique is the way they incorporate Broadway-style music to teach kids about important issues and themes.

Little Einsteins

The Disney Channel hosts this excellent show which fosters music appreciation. Little Einsteins introduces children to classical music, music terminology, musical instruments and more. All the characters are musically talented and their enthusiasm about music tends to pique the interest of kids.

Sesame Street

Famous for teaching many adults today how to read with they were a child, Sesame Street is a classic. This long-running tv program teaches kids reading, math skills and more through songs and stories. With lovable and recognizable characters such as Big Bird, Ernie, Bert, and Elmo, kids will enjoy watching it while learning at the same time.

The Backyardigans

The characters of this show can be described as adorable and the songs thought of as captivating. The Backyardigans features five friends – Austin, Pablo, Tasha, Tyrone, and Uniqua – as they go on different adventures through the power of their imagination. Each episode features song and dance as the five friends set out on another epic adventure while learning something new along the way.

Imagination Movers

Imagination Movers airs on Playhouse Disney and features an all-male band from New Orleans. The Movers include Mover Rich, Mover Scott, Mover Dave, and Mover Smitty. They go through situations that resonate with young viewers and tackle problems with wit, creativity, and fun music.

Doodlebops Rockin' Road Show

Airing on CBS, this show for preschoolers features three colorfully-dressed and musically-gifted characters. Together, Deedee Doodle, Rooney Doodle, and Moe Doodle go on exciting adventures while meeting interesting characters and learning important lessons along the way.
