Mike Durrett is a former writer for ThoughtCo and contributed articles about comedy for 11 years. Mike held many roles throughout his career. He was a class clown, a columnist, a radio disc jockey and programmer at WFOM-AM in Marietta Georgia in the 1970s, an actor, film projectionist, and a gag writer. Mike wrote for stars including Joan Rivers and radio personalities like Howard Stern and Gary Owens.

Mike created the Golden Twinkies Award for Best Comedy film in 1995 and oversaw its world premiere at Grauman's Chinese Theatre. He also scripted, directed, and clowned around in several home movie comedies.
