The Marine Corps uses the Military Occupational Specialty code system to identify service members' roles or jobs within the Corps. These codes are prefaced by "MOS" then followed by four digits that designate the exact position. MOS 0411 refers to the role of the Maintenance Management Specialist.

Job Description for The Maintenance Management Specialist 

The Maintenance Management Specialist provides advice, guidance, and assistance to the equipment commodity manager, as well as to the maintenance commodity manager. He or she also advises maintenance personnel who perform maintenance and maintenance management duties.

The Maintenance Management Specialist can assume the duties of and assume the responsibilities of the Maintenance Management Officer or Maintenance Management Chief. He or she would supervise all maintenance management personnel in this role and would monitor maintenance management programs, policies, and procedures. He or she would analyze maintenance and maintenance management functional areas to ensure the effective use of equipment, maintenance, and material. 

The Maintenance Information Coordination Specialist is assigned to the Maintenance Information Systems Coordination Office (MISCO) and ensures the proper functioning of the field maintenance subsystem of the Marine Corps Integrated Maintenance Management System (MIMMS).

MOS 0411 is a primary type of MOS (PMOS), and the rank range is from master gunnery sergeant to private.

Job Requirements

Applicants for MOS 0411 must possess a GT score of at least 100 and preferably higher. The position is reserved for U.S. citizens. Secret security clearance eligibility is required. 

They must complete the Basic Marine Corps Integrated Maintenance Management System Course at the Logistics Operations School of the Marine Corps Combat Service Support Schools, located at Camp Johnson and Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. It is required upon entry as well as upon lateral moves to this MOS at the rank of sergeant or below. Marines making a lateral move are required to first complete the Marine Corps Institute (MCI) 0410 training course before attending the above schooling.

An additional MOS (AMOS) may be awarded by commanders after a demonstrated performance of Training and Readiness Manual standards and upon completion of a minimum of six months' duty in a unit. These applicants must additionally complete the 0410 and 0414 Distance Learning Correspondence courses provided by the Marine Corps Institute.
