Relationships can be extremely rewarding and enjoyable, but they can also be a bit challenging. No matter how long you've been with your partner, you may constantly be working to keep your relationship strong, healthy, and happy. And if you're a guy looking to improve your connection with partner and take your relationship to new heights, these five key tips can help you find real relationship success.

1. Strive to Be a Better Listener

One of the most important tips for improving your relationship with your partner is to work on your listening skills. If you tend to talk over your partner, tune her out from time to time, or find that you ask her to repeat herself often, you're actually showing her that what she says doesn't really matter to you because you're not truly paying attention. However, if you practice what's known as "active listening" and do your best to tune in to not only what your partner is saying but how she's saying it, you can bring your relationship to a new level by having a better understanding of each other. For instance, if you start to pay attention to her tone of voice and body language in addition to her words, you'll have far better insight into how she's actually feeling and be able to be there for her in more ways.

2. Be Emotionally Available

Do you tend to hide your feelings inside rather than opening up to your partner and telling her what's really on your mind?

If you want to have a deeper and more significant relationship with your significant other, you have to make an effort to let your partner in and open up to her. For instance, if you're willing to express your feelings about a hard day that you had, aren't afraid to be vulnerable around her, and are able to tell her more about your past, you're showing her your softer side while also demonstrating how much you trust her.

When you can confide in your partner, she'll not only feel more compelled to open up to you, but you're strengthening the bond that the two of you share since you're tearing down any walls and barriers that were once up between the two of you.

3. Spice Things Up

If you want to improve the health of your relationship, another key tip is to keep your partner on her toes. When every weekend consists of staying in and watching a different series on Netflix, your relationship will start to feel as though you're living in repeats. In order to keep your relationship thriving, it's imperative that you put in the effort to engage in new activities and take your relationship to new places. When you make date night a priority, find more occasions to celebrate, and try different activities and pastimes together, you're preventing your relationship from becoming boring and mundane. Putting in a bit of effort goes a long way in terms of keeping your relationship fresh and interesting.

4. Keep Your Word

Women want to be with a man they can truly trust, and an essential relationship tip is to do your best to keep your word. If you're the type of person who tends to flake out on people, is rarely on time, and doesn't care about honoring commitments, your partner isn't going to want to be committed to you.

On the flip side, if you're a person who goes out of your way to be trustworthy, loyal, and reliable, you're laying the foundation for a stronger relationship with your partner because of your sense of integrity. Keeping your word is one of the most important ways you can show your partner that you truly care since you're fully demonstrating to her that she can count on you to be there through thick and thin.

5. Be Present

If you want to improve your relationship, you have to make a real effort to be present when you're with your partner. In today's fast-paced society, it can be easy to be glued to your phone all day and be all-consumed with what's happening on your screen. However, when your focus is on a text, email, or YouTube video and not your partner, this is going to create problems down the road.

When you're able to be really present and in the moment with your partner, you're silencing all the distractions that are preventing you from connecting with one another. When you can put away your phone during your meals together, have a deep and meaningful conversation, and stare into each other's eyes rather than stare at your phone, you're building a greater sense of intimacy between the two of you. Living in the moment with your partner is one of the most effective ways to strengthen your relationship.
