Introduction Mountain-bike rider and enthusiast since 1970sProfessional engineer; own consulting firm, Next Dimension Engineering, since 1997Director of engineering at Pivot Cycles, since 2006Award-winning designer of the Pivot Shuttle e-MTB Experience Kevin Tisue is a former writer for ThoughtCo who contributed articles on mountain biking and related topics for one year. The sport of bicycle motocross (BMX) originated in the United States in the early 1970s. And, since nearly that time, Kevin has been riding mountain bikes. What began as a sport for Kevin developed into a life-long career. Although BMX was, and remains, his first love, Kevin embraced other recreational sports that combined the mechanics of propulsion with the human body. Kevin started his career early in high school, as one of the founders of a snowboard design and production company. His fascination with propulsion lead Kevin to study mechanical engineering in college. Since then, Kevin has worked as an engineer in recreational sports — at off-road motorcycle, kayak, skateboard, and mountain and road bike companies. In 1997, Kevin founded Next Dimension Engineering in Park City, Utah, where he is chief executive officer. In 2006, he joined Pivot Cycles as its director of engineering — helping the company to garner the bike industry's Design & Innovation Award, 2018 with its Pivot Shuttle electric mountain bike (e-MTB). Education Kevin Tisue studied Mechanical Engineering and Design at California State University, Chico.Awards and PublicationsDesign & Innovation Award, 2018 LiveAbout and Dotdash Meredith LiveAbout, a Dotdash Meredith brand, is a reference site focused on entertainment, activities, and hobbies.
