Kate Luther is a former writer for ThoughtCo who spent more than 11 years organizing, restructuring, and publishing new content for the anime section of the website. Speed Racer was Kate's first introduction to anime back in the 1970s. The show hooked her. Some other early favorites include Transformers, Sailor Moon, and imported copies of Dragon Ball Z. Kate previously acted as the editor for the Dragon Ball Z site on TerraShare.com.

Kate wrote about a variety of anime series, ranging from classics like Astro Boy and Evangelion to the more recent productions including InuYasha, Bleach, and Witch Hunter Robin. She interviewed up and coming creators such as Plastic Pixel and Terrence Walker of Studio Art FX.

In the 1990s, Kate was a co-owner of Toys From the Crypt, a collectible toy and comic shop in Garland, Texas. The shop specialized in Japanimation merchandise. Kate exhibited her collection at numerous conventions and toy fairs, including the famous Fantasy Fair. Kate also attended many anime conventions, including the Wizard World Dallas and AnimeFEST.
