Experience

Justin is a Certified Financial Planner with more than two decades of experience writing about personal finance. He has written hundreds of articles, demystifying banking, investing, loans, credit, and other personal finance topics for consumers.

Justin has worked for large financial firms and served in small credit unions, and he founded a fee-only financial planning practice, Approach Financial Planning in Montrose, Colorado.

Justin is the author of "The Everything Improve Your Credit Book" and is a ghostwriter for financial services clients. He has worked behind the scenes on several publications as a technical reviewer and editor. He has also been interviewed on banking topics by numerous online and print outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Forbes, Consumer Reports, Bankrate, U.S. News and World Report, HuffPost, and others.

Besides holding a CFP and MBA degree, he is certified as a Professional Plan Consultant (PPC). The designation promotes best practices for managing workplace retirement plans to improve the chances of retirement readiness. 

Education

Justin has an MBA from the University of Colorado. He completed the CFP education program from The College for Financial Planning and passed the CFP exam in 2009. He also has an M.S. in information systems and a bachelor's degree in Spanish literature and language from the University of Colorado.
