Jen has been a style writer and editor for more than five years, and a giant cheapskate for way longer than that. She is totally that person who responds to compliments on her outfit by saying, "Thanks! It was on sale!"


An experienced writer, editor, and beauty product junkie, Jen once went an entire year without spending more than 95 dollars on an outfit -- that's including shoes and underwear. She truly believes that no one needs to spend a lot to look fantastic.


Jen has a bachelor's degree in English Literature from the University of Massachusetts. During her time there, she also discovered writing for the internet, how to cover up the ravages of a sleepless night with makeup, and being poor. All these things turned out to be nearly as useful to her chosen career as her degree.

Too often, we tend to think of beauty and fashion as something restricted to the rich. We see celebrities on the red carpet, socialites on the internet, or models in magazines and think that they're the ones who get to look fabulous.

I truly believe that everyone can look like a movie star -- or better yet, like the best possible version of themselves -- without going into credit card debt, spending all of their savings, or driving themselves crazy trying to live up to the supposed beauty ideal.
