Jason Fogelson is a former writer for ThoughtCo who reviewed more than 500 new cars, trucks, motorcycles, and SUVs over the course of nearly 10 years.
Fogelson's experience with the automotive business began in 1980 when he took time off from his college education to sell cars and trucks for several dealerships in the Los Angeles area. He was California's top Fiat salesman in 1981, one of the last years Fiats were imported into the United States. Fogelson works behind the scenes in the automotive industry as a writer and creative director for trade presentations; he also works on the creative side of automotive advertising by writing directors' treatments for ads and campaigns.
The current president of the Motor Press Guild (the professional organization for automotive journalists), Fogelson also works as a freelance writer and as a film, music, and television producer. Additionally, Fogelson has worked on shows about transportation for the Fine Living Network and Speed Channel. His book, "100 Things for Every Gearhead to Do Before They Die," was published by Reedy Press in 2015.
He has been a motorcycle expert for Best Western Hotels; contributed to Forbes, covering luxury automobiles, motorcycles, and related topics; and owns the "Books For Gearheads" website. He has also written for You Must Be Trippin, AOL Autos, CNN.com, the Los Angeles Times, Entrepreneur, "Maximum Drive," American Survival Guide, RideApart, and many others.
Fogelson attended the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana and College of the Canyons in Valencia, California, before going to California State University, Northridge, to pursue a degree in theater. He studied dramatic theory and criticism at the graduate level at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts.
