Overplucked eyebrows create a poor frame around the eyes, change the focal point, and don't balance out facial features well.

Typically, eyebrows get overplucked when someone is in a rush to get their eyebrows looking great in no time. However, this tweezer-happy approach often creates thin eyebrows with little to no shape. Whether your eyebrows are too bushy, bulky, or long, don't start out by removing hair.

How to Clean up Your Eyebrows

To fix up your overplucked eyebrows, start by brushing the hair up with a clean mascara spoolie and trimming the hair with small scissors. This will help you see any hair that you might want to remove much more clearly.

Before you start tweezing, have a game plan. Rather than just winging it, you can think about what type of shape you want that compliments your face and personal style. Consider where you want your brows to start, end, and arch.

Once you're ready, you can use a white eye pencil to white out any hair you want to tweeze. Then, you can go one by one with each hair and take your time. Make sure you go slowly. In fact, stop and look at your brows after each and every hair is pulled. If it's your first time, you may want to seek out a professional to do it for you or ask for some advice. Talking with a technician about your preferences will allow them to guide you on style, shape, and how to do your own eyebrows at home.

Fill for Instant Thick Eyebrows

If you want thicker brows, you can use an eyebrow pencil to define and create the look. First, you want to choose a shade that's the same (or very close) color to your natural brows. This allows your eyebrows to look real, rather than painted on. If you have a hard time deciding on a shade, simply opt for a neutral color like Billion Dollar Brows Universal Brow Pencil.

Once you've chosen a shade, create the shape of your eyebrow by drawing a soft line in the shape desired on the bottom of it. Then, use a slightly lighter shade to fill in your brows through hair stroke motions. Don't draw a line across your brow. Instead, make several short strokes in the direction that your hair grows. Be sure to use a light and easy hand as you do this so that you create a more natural look. Otherwise, you will get hard dark lines as a result, which can be difficult to get rid of.

Consider a Complete Kit

There are several eyebrow packages available, like the popular Japonesque, Too Faced Brow Envy, and Anastasia eyebrow kits. These all come with stencils to help you achieve a great shape. You can expect kits to have brow pencils, powder, and/or waxes to tame unruly hair. The kits provide tools that allow you to play around with shape and color since they generally have more than one tone to customize the shade yourself. These are great alternatives for those who don't know what shape or color would best suit them.

Encourage Hair Growth

You can stimulate hair growth on your eyebrows with products like Talika Lipocils or Brow Relonge which are good for people who have over-tweezed their eyebrows.

These products help hair that seems to grow back slowly or come in patchy. While these items can lean toward the expensive side, they have been known to give some people results in four to six weeks.

The regrowth process can be difficult, so it's generally recommended to see a professional brow artist who can assess your brows. When they are damaged, you may need to let them grow organically on their own for about two months. If you're feeling anxious during this time, you can also try to use natural products like castor oil which can act as a remedy to help bring hair back faster.

Once you are ready to start over and you have your brows back, the best thing you can do is tweeze extremely carefully or visit a brow specialist. If you're going to do your eyebrows at home in the future, you'll want to tweeze just an index finger width around the area between your brows.

You can also take off some hairs near the lash line. In this case, less is safer.
