Medical Call Center Jobs You Can Do From Home

Nursing-based jobs make up the lion's share of remote medical jobs, but there are some medical call center jobs you can do from home that don’t require a nursing degree. These positions—like medical coding jobs and medical transcription—can be great jobs for LPNs and others with medical backgrounds who want to work at home. The patient-care experience (i.e., customer service) of an LPN, along with the medical knowledge gained in that profession, make a great skill set for medical call center jobs.

Aetna

Aetna offers telephone jobs for nurses, mental health professionals, and customer service representatives that are potential telework positions. Unless the job posting specifically says it will hire telecommuters, this likely means that telecommuting will be considered for an employee after a certain amount of time—perhaps 12 to 18 months.

Carenet

Carenet is a Texas-based firm that provides support to insurance companies and healthcare systems across the country. Its home-based medical call center of registered nurses (RNs) answer questions or perform telephone triage.

Centene

Centene offers health insurance plans and managed long-term services and support with a focus on under-insured and uninsured individuals. It is the largest Medicaid managed care organization in the country. It offers remote positions, including clinical and nursing case managers, and long-term care coordinators. While a nursing degree is preferred for the long-term care coordinator position, six-plus years of care management experience will suffice. Use "remote" as a search keyword in company's job database.

Citra Health Solutions

Citra Health Solutions is a healthcare service and technology company. It hires registered nurses for at-home positions in Maine, Missouri, Tennessee and Texas. Fonemed Telemedicine

Fonemed Telemedicine hires registered nurses from the United States and Canada to work from home to provide telephone triage and health advice to callers from across North America. The company looks for nurses with three years of recent clinical experience and previous telephone triage experience.

Humana

The telephonic nursing jobs at health insurance company Humana go beyond the basics of medical call centers (such as telephone triage) and into case management and quality assurance. McKesson

McKesson is a large pharmaceutical and medical-supply distributor. While it hires nurses for remote roles such as clinical case educators, the company also hires people for non-nursing call center sales jobs and auditing positions.

PointClickCare is a Canadian software company, with operations in the United States, that provides cloud-based solutions for the senior care industry. The company hires customer support and sales professionals to work from home.

Triage 4 Pediatrics

Based in Texas, this company hires RNs to work at home in after-hours telephone triage for pediatrics. Requirements include at least five years of pediatric experience, licensure in Texas, and a drug test. Weekends and evenings are required, but part- and full-time schedules are available.

UnitedHealth

This large health insurance company offers telecommuting opportunities. While many of the telecommuting nursing jobs are for in-home care, there are a few call center jobs for nurses, as well as a sales jobs.
