There are some wonderful recipes for homemade face masks that will help tighten oily and acne-prone skin and smooth out your skin tone. These masks are not only easy to make (some take only one ingredient), but they've been tried and tested and beloved by other women with oily, acne-prone skin. Plus, they're all organic.

The recipes in this slideshow include ingredients that are excellent for oily skin: bananas, clay, juice, oatmeal, honey and witch hazel for example. These ingredients help remove excessive oils while naturally soothing skin and providing a balanced Ph. Not sure if your skin is oily? Find out for sure in my article, How to Tell If You Have Oily Skin.

Here's the thing about oily skin, which I had for most of my life. While oily skin can seem like such a hassle when you have it, the good news is the oils in your skin are great for keeping wrinkles at bay. The irony is that when you get older, your skin will likely stop making so many oils, and will become dry or at least drier. This happens to a lot of women (hormones, sigh).

Now that I'm past 40, I slather on oils and the most moisturizing lotions I can find. The funny thing is when I was in my 20s and 30s, I had such oily skin, I could take a paper napkin and put it to my face and the oils from my face would show up on the paper when I pulled it away.

So keep in mind that that oily skin you have today may seem like a hassle but skin changes and someday you may turn up with dry skin and then you'll miss your formerly oilier self.

When I read that models with oily skin wipe on witch hazel to control their oil, I had to share the news with you because I'm always looking for natural skincare methods that work.

Witch hazel can be too drying for normal and dry skin, but has amazing benefits for acne-prone, pimple-prone and oily skin. It reduces inflammation, removes makeup, brightens skin tone, removes oil and some people swear it helps control blackheads.
