Dip-dye hair color has been trendy for a couple years now and with the number of celebrities who are still sporting this color trend on the rise, it seems this trend isn't going to die anytime soon.

Dip-dye basically means to dye parts of your hair another color. Bright hues, pastels and the popular "ombré" gradient shading are all popular hair colors. I particularly love it when a brunette lightens the ends just a bit in an ombré effect that's super popular right now (see my photo gallery of ombré hairstyles).

You can get this look in a variety of ways. You can do it yourself, have a pro do it or use a less permanent solution via clip-in extensions, Kool-Aid mixes (yes, you read that correctly) or spray color.

If you do decide to go the more permanent dip-dye route, consider that if you have dyed hair or dark hair, you will likely have to bleach the hair that will be colored first. This can be harsh on your hair. If you are naturally blonde, you may be able to dye without bleaching.

Supermodel Elle Macpherson shared her health and beauty secrets on Elle UK.com.  Some highlights:

  • On how she stays healthy: "I eat organic, locally sourced food wherever possible. I don't like to have chemicals in my body at all, so I don't drink, smoke or take drugs, not even Aspirin. But not because I'm trying to look good, it's because as I matured I realized what I put in my body really affects the way I feel."
  • On her exercise routine: "The consistent thing in my life is my trainer, I'll talk to him and get informed feedback, but the best feedback is the way I feel."
  • On her "most important beauty ritual": "The most important thing for me is scrub. I have a scrubbing mitt and I buff my whole body and face everyday twice a day, in the shower in the morning and bath at night. And then moisturize; the texture of skin is really important."
  • When asked her thoughts regarding the famous quote that at a certain age you have to choose between your face and your figure, Elle said, "I don't think it's about choosing between the two, but choosing between the inside and the outside. Treat the inside right and hopefully the outside will follow. I am not the sum total of the way I look." Brilliant.
