LEGO 'Star Wars'

The Yoda Chronicles
LEGO Star Wars returns in epic style with THE YODA CHRONICLES, a thrilling, funny and action-packed new LEGO Star Wars story told in three animated TV specials! TM & © 2013 Lucasfilm Ltd. All Rights Reserved. Used Under Authorization. Cartoon Network

The LEGO Star Wars videogames have sold well over 30 million units. No doubt based on that success, LEGO made the smart move to take the style and humor of those games to Cartoon Network for a series of Star Wars cartoons.

Revenge of the Brick (2005) is a five-minute animated short that spoofs . Mainly the cartoon shows the battle above and on the ground of Kashyyk. Mark Hamill, the original Luke Skywalker, co-directed.

The Quest for R2-D2 (2009) is an animated short that follows R2 as he jettisons down to Tattoine during a Clone Wars battle. Just as Count Dooku and Asajj Ventress are about to dismantle him, Anakin and Ahsoka arrive to save the droid.

Bombad County (2010) is another animated short that parodies the first three Star Wars films. This cartoon mainly stars Jar Jar Binks and Boba Fett. We find out what they were up to when the main characters were busy fighting the war.

The Padawan Menace (2011) was the first full-episode special that aired on Cartoon Network. In this episode, Yoda is taking his Padawans on a field trip, when one of them makes off with his ship. Plus, C-3PO and R2-D2 are left babysitting, but find they aren't up to the task.

The Empire Strikes Out (2012) takes place just after the Death Star explodes. Luke has a secret mission to Naboo that is thwarted by throngs of fans. Meanwhile, Darth Vader has to prove himself to the Emperor while competing with Darth Maul.

The Yoda Chronicles included three different cartoon specials: "The Phantom Clone," "Menace of the Sith" and "Attack of the Jedi." First, Yoda and his Padawans must fight to stop the creation of a super-weapon. But when they fail, Darth Sidious uses his new Sith clone's powers for evil. Finally, JEK discovers he might want to fight for the good guys. Which side will he choose?

'Legends of Chima'

Eris, Bladvic and Gorzan 'Legends of Chima'
Eris, Bladvic and Gorzan 'Legends of Chima'. LEGO / Cartoon Network

The Chima Kingdom that was once a pure and natural paradise has transformed into a land of unrest. Best friends, Laval the Lion and Cragger the Crocodile, have turned into enemies. In the forests, vehicles are charging at each other in epic duels. Animal tribes are fighting over the possession of the super-powerful natural energy-source called Chi – which is the source of life and has the potential for unimaginable destruction.

This Cartoon Network series is absolutely gorgeous, with deep greens and soft golds, but the writing is deplorable. Legends of Chima would appeal to young children who aren't worried about complex plots and sophisticated dialogue.

'Mixels'. Cartoon Network / LEGO

Mixels is a new series of cartoon shorts by LEGO, premiering on Cartoon Network on February 12, 2014. Mixels is centered around a world of colorful creatures who can mix and combine with each other, much like the  video game.

The characters fall into three different categories, or tribes, based on a personality trait.

The Infernites live in the magma wastelands near the planet's core. They are kind of heroic, kind of bumbling, and really handy for a barbecue. Vulk, Zorch and Flain are Infernites.

Cragsters are miners who live in the many tunnels and caverns they have dug deep under the surface of the world. They smash, they dig, and they're great to have around unless you have lots of fine china. Krader, Seismo and Shuff are Cragsters.

The Electroids live high up in the mountainous forest to stay to stay close to the lightning storms that energize them. Teslo, Zaptor and Volectro are Electroids.

These three tribes are the first wave of characters being released by LEGO. Two more waves are expected.
