Community canneries aren't as common as they used to be, but the ones still in operation are worth supporting. Equipped with a large commercial kitchen, a knowledgeable staff and every canning tool imaginable, community canneries make canning quick, easy and fun.

Consider visiting a community cannery if you:

  • are new to canning and need someone to show you the ropes
  • need to brush up on the latest canning rules
  • want to process large amounts of food at once
  • don't want to invest in/have to store a lot of canning equipment
  • have a small kitchen and need more room to work
  • want to make canning a social event
  • are interested in canning in metal cans (many canneries are set up for both metal and glass jar canning)
  • want to sell your canned goods and need to process them in a commercial kitchen
