Learn about our Editorial Process Updated on 04/30/19 The Chicago Bears, originally established in 1919, are one of only two franchises remaining from the NFL’s founding. Since their inception, the Bears have had some solid playoff success. The Bears have won nine NFL Championships and one Super Bowl (1985). They appeared in another Super Bowl in 2007, losing to the Indianapolis Colts. The Bears’ 1985 Super Bowl Championship team, led by head coach Mike Ditka, is widely considered to be one of the best NFL teams of all time. The franchise holds the record for the most inductees in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and they also have the most retired jersey numbers in the National Football League. Additionally, the Bears have recorded more regular season and overall victories than any other NFL franchise.
