Cancer and Sagittarius Love Compatibility

When Cancer and Sagittarius meet, sparks may fly, but not necessarily the right kind. One is a sidewinder, while the other is a wanderer. A young Sagittarius may come across as a player, casting a wide romantic net, which sets off alarms for the security-minded Crab.

Through the eyes of swift-moving Sagittarius, Cancer can seem like a wet blanket, especially if the Crab attempts to hold on with those tenacious pincers. Let's put it all out there up front. Sagittarius is a freedom-loving sort who is out to experience everything first hand. This leads to many of them sowing some wild oats.

Cancer tends toward serial monogamy and is happiest in an emotionally committed set up. The Moon-child gets weird when they are in too deep, with someone they suspect has a loose hold on the relationship.

The moving Sagittarius is better suited to an equally independent lover. Sagittarius is friendly, but not always emotionally present, and this rouses insecurity in the Crab.

Sagittarius in love is vivacious, passionate and loves to take risks.

Cancer in love is self-conscious, risk-averse, and introverted.

Introvert and Extrovert

The Archer follows the intense, inwardly concentrated sign Scorpio on the Zodiac wheel. They're busting out and bursting out of the depths. Many Sagittarius have the deep insight of Scorpio but are meant to stay on the move. The Crab is geared toward home and hearth. Some of the innate differences begin here. A compromise could be taking "home" on the road, in a mobile vehicle that resembles the Crab's shell. Just a thought.

Water and fire as Sun signs are known to work out, with other harmonies (love chemistry) in the birth chart. Look for common ground with Venus and the Moon, in particular.

Cancer may intuit that it can trust Sagittarius, but be unsure of how deep their affections run. The Archer feels deeply, of course, but this is their lifetime for acting on instinct, experiencing life first hand, and being the seeker and eternal student. Sagittarius craves the freedom to move!

Sagittarius is the most candid of Zodiac signs. One innocent, but a blunt comment from Sagittarius goes straight to the heart of an exposed Crab. Quick to move on, what Sagittarius forgets was said by breakfast, lingers in the Cancers imagination for months to come.

The Archer has an adventure in mind, and the sensitive Cancer may have trouble keeping up. Cancer needs to sidestep into things, while Sagittarius shoots forward like an arrow. If Cancer gets clingy, Sagittarius is likely to shoot right out the door.

In a relationship, there's built-in friction, given that Cancer desires domestic bliss and the Sagittarius spirit cannot be tamed. But with other harmonies in the charts, it could be a relationship full of growth. Cancer admires the vitality of fiery Sagittarius, and this inspires the moon-child to be more active. Sagittarius has a light nature, free of emotional underpinnings, while Cancer feels its way through things. The difference in orientation can be unsettling for both, and lead to misunderstandings galore. Cancer may think Sagittarius is too superficial, and the Archer finds the heavy drama of the Crab to be a big drag.

Frida and Diego

A creative living arrangement, like Frida Kahlo (Cancer) and Diego Rivera's (Sagittarius) adjoining houses, gives each the space they need. It's well-known that she suffered deeply from his infidelity. But if you've found a loyal Archer, give him or her a chance.

Cancer needs time to process and be still, and Sagittarius is a lone wanderer at heart. The Archer models a way of living free of emotional moodiness and helps Cancer see beyond their world. Cancer can be a nourishing presence to Sagittarius, offering a home base to return to between travels. This is a quirky pairing that pushes each other's buttons, but with the potential to experience life differently.

Upside: Eye for the absurd, comic angle; naturally playful; very engaged in every experience; a loyal friend.

Downside: different emotional rhythms; security vs. absolute freedom; staying put and being in motion.
