"Allison Micheletti (24, Scottsdale, Ariz.) – Daughter of former professional hockey player and current New York Rangers television analyst Joe Micheletti, Allison is a late bloomer to the game of golf, switching to the game at age 17 following a knee injury that sidelined her basketball career. Currently dating professional golfer Martin Kaymer, Micheletti will compete on the Cactus Tour and select Symetra Tour events in 2012." - From Golf Channel's announcement of the Big Break Atlantis contestants Allison Micheletti was one of the better-known contestants on Big Break Atlantis because her boyfriend is quite famous in the golf world: Martin Kaymer. Micheletti made attempts at LPGA and Ladies European Tour Q-Schools, and Kaymer has been known to caddie for her. Micheletti is the daughter of a former pro hockey player, and played soccer and basketball in high school. She turned to golf after an injury ended her basketball dreams. Micheletti turned pro in 2011 and has worked with instructors including Peter Kostis. At the time of the Big Break Atlantis premiere, Micheletti had played on the Cactus Tour and Women's Canadian Tour. 02 of 13 Anya Alvarez 'Big Break Atlantis' cast member Anya Alvarez. © Golf Channel Anya Alvarez was a contestant on Big Break Atlantis, which aired in 2012 on Golf Channel. "Anya Alvarez (22, Pittsburgh, Pa.) – A fiery competitor on the course, Alvarez has overcome enormous odds off the course. A rookie on the Symetra Tour in 2012, Alvarez qualified and made the cut in the 2011 U.S. Women’s Open in her first attempt. There, she posted five Top 10 finishes. She turned pro in 2011, and in 2012, a matter of weeks before the premiere of Big Break Atlantis, played in her first Futures Tour event and finished 23rd. Alvarez is also a spokesperson for the KidSafe Foundation, an organization that educates parents and children about protecting kids from sexual abuse and other forms of abuse. 03 of 13 Christina Stockton 'Big Break Atlantis' cast member Christina Stockton. "Christina Stockton (24, Rocklin, Calif.) – Daughter of LPGA teaching professional Becky Herbert Stockton, golf was introduced to Christina at a young age. And the Stockton family counts the Miller family - as in Johnny Miller - among its friends. Christina told Golf Channel that Johnny and his father, Larry Miller, sometimes watched her play junior tournaments and offered advice. Stockton played college golf at the University of San Francisco. While there, she recorded 14 Top 10 finishes and was selected to the West Coast Conference all-conference first-team all four seasons. Stockton turned pro in 2011. 04 of 13 Aubrey McCormick 'Big Break Atlantis' cast member Aubrey McCormick. © Golf Channel Aubrey McCormick was a contestant on Big Break Atlantis, which aired in 2012 on Golf Channel. "Aubrey McCormick (29, Arlington, Va.) – A free spirit, McCormick hung up the golf clubs in 2011 after struggling on the Symetra Tour and other mini-tour circuits. After working in an office environment, McCormick rediscovered her passion for the game and is beginning 2012 with a fresh outlook on golf. " - From Golf Channel's announcement of the Big Break Atlantis contestants The 6-foot-tall Aubrey McCormick didn't play golf for the first time until she was 18 years old. A mere six months later, she was trying to land a college golf scholarship. And she succeeded, finding a place on the Daytona State College golf team, which won the NJCAA National Championship in 2003. McCormick later moved on to Missouri State University, then turned pro in 2006. She played mostly on mini-tours in the ensuing years, and also tried her hand at teaching golf. In late 2010 McCormick decided to get a "real job" and went to work in an office. Big Break Atlantis is her re-entry into competitive golf. 05 of 13 Gloriana Soto 'Big Break Atlantis' cast member Gloriana Soto. © Golf Channel Gloriana Soto was a contestant on Big Break Atlantis, which aired in 2012 on Golf Channel. "Gloriana Soto (25, Windermere, Fla. / San Jose, Costa Rica) – The first female professional golfer from Costa Rica to compete in the United States, Soto turned professional immediately following graduation from Texas Tech in 2010, and is scheduled to play a full schedule on the Symetra Tour in 2012." - From Golf Channel's announcement of the Big Break Atlantis contestants Gloriana Soto has traveled a path from her native Costa Rica to the David Leadbetter Academy in Florida to Texas Tech University and then onto the LPGA Futures Tour. She has the distinction of being the first female professional golfer from Costa Rica to play on tour in the United States. Soto won numerous junior and amateur titles in Costa Rica. She turned pro in 2009; in 2010 got into four Futures Tour events; and in 2011 played full-time on the LPGA's developmental circuit. In 2011, Soto didn't card any Top 10 finishes on the Futures Tour, but in her first tournament of 2012 she posted her best finish to that date, a tie for 10th place. 06 of 13 Kelly Villarreal 'Big Break Atlantis' cast member Kelly Villarreal. "Kelly Villarreal (29, Birmingham, Ala.) – Nicknamed “The Real Deal,” Villarreal is anticipating Big Break Atlantis to be her comeback story. She is giving professional golf another go after giving up on her dreams to compete on the LPGA Tour for a medical sales career five years ago." - From Golf Channel's announcement of the Big Break Atlantis contestants Kelly Villarreal played both golf and basketball in middle and high school after taking up golf at age 12. But she switched to focus solely on golf in time to earn a scholarship to Samford University. Beginning in her junior season at Samford, however, Villarreal developed an eating disorder that plagued her for more than five years. The problem appeared to end her competitive golf career, although she continued to play recreationally. After finally conquering the condition, Villarreal embarked on a professional career outside of golf, but, she told Golf Channel, the pull of competitive golf kept coming back. After getting married and also launching an organization called Pro-Healing to help athletes deal with issues of self-image and nutrition, Villarreal is using Big Break Atlantis to get back into the competitive spirit on the golf course. 07 of 13 Marcela Leon 'Big Break Atlantis' cast member Marcela Leon. © Golf Channel Marcela Leon was a contestant on Big Break Atlantis, which aired in 2012 on Golf Channel. "Marcela Leon (31, Orlando, Fla. / Monterrey, Mexico) – The most experienced competitor in the series, Leon has competed on the Symetra Tour for the past nine years, with five career top-10 finishes and one runner-up finish. She is competing a full-schedule on the 2012 Symetra Tour." - From Golf Channel's announcement of the Big Break Atlantis contestants Experience and persistence are two qualities Marcela Leon brings to Big Break Atlantis. She has played each year on the Futures Tour since 2003, finishing as high as 43rd on the money list, as high as second place in an individual tournament. She's still fighting to improve and earn a place on the LPGA Tour. Before turning pro, Leon spent four years on the golf team at San Jose State University, where she posted one victory and was a WAC All-Conference first-team selection in 2002. 08 of 13 Meghan Hardin 'Big Break Atlantis' cast member Meghan Hardin. "Meghan Hardin (19, Lake Arrowhead, Calif.) – The youngest female competitor in the history of Big Break at age 19, Hardin turned professional just prior to the filming of the series, foregoing her final two years of collegiate golf. A part-time model, Hardin will begin her professional golf career in 2012, competing in Cactus Tour and mini-tour events." - From Golf Channel's announcement of the Big Break Atlantis contestants Meghan Hardin completed a sophomore season at Palomar College, a junior college, and was considering scholarship offers from Division I schools. Then the opportunity to appear on Big Break Atlantis was presented, and Hardin turned pro to appear on the show. "Natalia Ghilzon (21, Windsor, Ontario) – One of the most athletic competitors on the series, Ghilzon will look to follow in the same footsteps as fellow Windsor native David Byrne, who won the series 15th season – Big Break Indian Wells. After overcoming wrist injuries, Ghilzon enters 2012 healthy and with a new found confidence." - From Golf Channel's announcement of the Big Break Atlantis contestants Natalia Ghilzon's collegiate career at Oakland University was interrupted by a serious wrist problem that required surgery in 2009. She didn't resume competitive golf until 2011 and played twice on the Futures Tour that year. Her appearance on Big Break Atlantis continues Ghilzon's comeback in the competitive environment. 10 of 13 Zakiya Randall 'Big Break Atlantis' cast member Zakiya Randall. © Golf Channel Zakiya Randall was a contestant on Big Break Atlantis, which aired in 2012 on Golf Channel. "Zakiya Randall (20, Atlanta, Ga.) – Golfer, model and music producer, Randall turned professional just prior to the filming of Big Break Atlantis, and is determined to make a name for herself in professional golf. Nicknamed 'Z,' Randall will look to make a statement on the series with her golf game and her fashion." - From Golf Channel's announcement of the Big Break Atlantis contestants You might say Zakiya Randall's golf career got off to a hot start: Her first year of playing competitive golf, at age 11, she won every tournament she entered in Atlanta. When she was 15, Randall earned medalist honors in a U.S. Women's Open local qualifier. She graduated high school in 2009 and has focused on pursuing a professional golf career since then. 11 of 13 Selanee Henderson 'Big Break Atlantis' cast member Selanee Henderson. © Golf Channel Selanee Henderson was a contestant on Big Break Atlantis, which aired in 2012 on Golf Channel. "Selanee Henderson (25, Temecula, Calif.) – A tough competitor on and off the course, Henderson is looking to capitalize on her success on the 2011 Cactus Tour (one win and one runner-up finish) to Big Break Atlantis. A natural athlete, Selanee also is the younger sister of former Olympic wrestler and current MMA fighter Dan Henderson." - From Golf Channel's announcement of the Big Break Atlantis contestants In addition to golf, Selanee Henderson is also a talented soccer player - she lettered in both sports all four years at the University of California-Irvine. But she was best at golf, posting six wins, including the Big West conference championship in 2006. Henderson was named Big West Conference Player of the Year that season, and made the all-conference first team all four seasons (2005-2008). She also qualified to play in the 2007 U.S. Women's Open, which was her first appearance in a pro tournament. Henderson told the Golf Channel that she's struggled with golf since a point in her senior collegiate season when she developed a hitch in her swing. The swing issue has persisted since she turned pro in 2008, and her results on the Futures Tour declined each season from 2009 through 2011. Her best finish on the Futures Tour to date is a tie for second in 2009. 12 of 13 Shannon Fish 'Big Break Atlantis' cast member Shannon Fish. © Golf Channel Shannon Fish was a contestant on Big Break Atlantis, which aired in 2012 on Golf Channel. "Shannon Fish (23, Spring, Texas) –Fish turned professional in 2011 following graduation from the University of Texas, posting four top-4 finishes on the Cactus Tour in her rookie year. An intense competitor, she was introduced to the game as a child by her mother and one of the game’s all time greats – Jackie Burke." - From Golf Channel's announcement of the Big Break Atlantis contestants Shannon Fish had the benefit of instruction from World Golf Hall of Fame member Jack Burke Jr., along with noted golf instruction Dick Harmon, growing up in the Houston area. She had a successful 4-year collegiate career at the University of Texas and won the Texas Women's Open as an amateur inm 2007. Fish turned pro in June 2011, first going out on the Cactus Tour.
