Every tall woman needs to know how to choose a flattering and sexy dress for her body type. (because yes, our bodies are more than just "tall"). If you're blessed with an ample chest, you may want to choose a dress that highlights the goods without giving them away, while those with a more athletic build might want to choose a dress silhouette that gives the impression of curves.

To help you find the ideal—and most flattering—dress for your tall body type, we turned to celebrities for inspiration. From Queen Latifah to Blake Lively, let their above-average heights and expertly-chosen outfits inspire your next fancy party look. Tall women rejoice, your key to finding a sexy dress is here.

Plus Size

If you're a tall woman with a plus-size frame, make sure you highlight your favorite body part while covering up any areas you might feel more self-conscious about.

Draw focus to your face by choosing an interesting neckline, like a high neck with beading or embroidery or even a boatneck style—and consider choosing a slightly longer skirt or a gown-length dress that skims your legs without squeezing you tight.

Long and Lean

If you have a long, lean frame, you want to choose dresses that give you the illusion of curves or one that skims your body to highlight your athletic physique. To create curves, look for strapless sweetheart necklines, A-line skirts, or peplum details. For a more sleek silhouette, a simple silk dress in a T-shirt cut is elegant and cool.

We love how Angie Harmon highlighted her toned bod in this bright red dress and minimal accessories, letting her shiny hair and buff arms do the talking.

With a well-proportioned upper and lower body, tall women with an hourglass figure should be counting their blessings! Choose sexy dresses that follow the lines of your body, hugging your curves closely. To avoid looking over-the-top sexy, avoid dresses with a too-short hemline or a too-deep V-neck.

Here, Blake Lively highlights all her curves in a long cranberry gown with a daring slit and unusual neckline. Her slicked-back hair also draws the eye to her face, creating an elegant and polished look overall.

Tall women with a pear-shaped body can use a dress to balance out their lower-half by drawing the eye upward toward their slim arms and shoulders. Our favorite way to do this now is with an on-trend off-the-shoulder dress in a bright color.

The dramatic bell sleeves that Solange Knowles is wearing here further draw the eye away from the hips towards the arms and collarbone. A poppy red lip adds a playful twist.
