As a fighter, Bernard Hopkins held multiple world titles as a middleweight and light heavyweight. Hopkins recorded 55 wins in his nearly three-decade career—including 32 knockouts—against only eight losses, two draws, and two no contests. Below is a decade-by-decade listing of his record broken down by year.

1990s: Becoming a Title-Holder

Hopkins fought once professionally in 1988—a four-round loss to Clinton Mitchell in Atlantic City—and was inactive in 1989. His career began in earnest in the 1990s when he won the International Boxing Federation middleweight title and fended off numerous challenges for the belt. Wins are designed by "W" for a non-knockout victory, "KO" for a knockout, and "TKO" for a technical knockout. No decisions are designated by "D" and losses with an "L."

Hopkins successfully defended the IBF title in 2000, then also managed to win the World Boxing Council middleweight crown in 2001, thus unifying the titles.
