Experience

Amy Van Deusen is a former writer for ThoughtCo who contributed articles for more than eight years. Amy, a professional gymnast herself, wrote about all aspects of gymnastics including programs for children, easy ways to make yourself more flexible, basic balance beam skills, and similar themes. 

Amy began her career in the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic Program, then as a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division One gymnast at the College of William & Mary. She went on to become a gymnastics coach, training children between the ages of five and eighteen in recreational classes, gymnastics camps, and through competitive team programs.

Also a prolific writer, Amy contributed regularly to International Gymnast Magazine, reporting on competitions and composing athlete profiles. She served as a senior editor for Women's Health and is a senior editor for the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (ESPN) multiplatform espnW. The platform focuses on women's sports and athletes.

Education

Amy Van Deusen attended the College of William & Mary and the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University.
