Al W. Moe is a former writer for ThoughtCo who contributed articles about casinos and the gaming industry for more than six years. His topics include ten things you didn't know about casinos, understanding slot machines, and numerous articles about how to play the most popular casino games. Al is a veteran of the Nevada casino industry. He worked in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, and Reno as a casino manager and spends much of his time playing blackjack and poker for a living.
Al blogs about his travels and writes about the history of the state and its gaming industry. He also writes fiction based in the backdrop of the casinos. His first book, Nevada's Golden Age of Gambling (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, 2012), is considered a classic resource for photos and stories from the state’s first-50 years of legalized gambling, between 1931 and1981. It continues to sell out at many bookstores. He also wrote Vegas and the Mob: Forty Years of Frenzy (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, 2013), an Amazon bestseller. As a freelance writer, Al's work appears in Poker Player, Casino and Gaming Chips, and Gaming Collectors Quarterly, among other magazines.
Al W. Moe received a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Marketing from the University of Phoenix. He is also a graduate of the University of Nevada-Reno Gaming Management Program.
